About the Watermark PDF
Stamp a diagonal text watermark — DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, a name or a date — across every page of a PDF. The Watermark PDF tool applies the text locally with pdf-lib, with adjustable size and opacity, so you can mark documents before sharing them without uploading anything.
How to use it
- 1Drop in the PDF you want to watermark.
- 2Type your watermark text (up to 40 characters).
- 3Adjust the size and opacity sliders until it looks right.
- 4Click Add watermark to stamp every page and download the result.
Choosing size and opacity
The watermark is drawn diagonally through the centre of each page in bold Helvetica. A low opacity — around 15–25% — keeps the underlying text readable while still making the mark obvious, which is ideal for DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL stamps. Raise the opacity and size for a stronger deterrent on documents you don't want reused. Because the watermark is applied to the existing pages, the rest of the content is untouched.
Common uses
- Marking a document as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL before circulating it.
- Adding your name or company to a proof so it isn't reused without permission.
- Stamping a "SAMPLE" or "COPY" label across handouts.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the watermark appear on every page?
- Yes. The text is stamped diagonally across the centre of all pages in the document.
- Can I still read the document through the watermark?
- Yes, if you keep the opacity low. Around 15–25% marks the page clearly while leaving the text underneath readable.
- Is my PDF uploaded to add the watermark?
- No. The watermark is applied locally in your browser, so the file stays on your device.
